UrNextDoor is building a trusted local marketplace where people can connect with communities, learn new skills, hire trusted professionals, discover services, and grow together.

We are looking for an SDE-1 who is passionate about building products from the ground up and wants to work in a fast-paced startup environment.

You'll work closely with the Founder, Product, Design, and Engineering teams to build and improve features used by real users and service providers.

What You'll Do

• Build, test, and deploy new features for the UrNextDoor platform.
• Develop scalable and maintainable frontend and backend applications.
• Design and integrate REST APIs and third-party services.
• Work with databases and develop efficient queries and data models.
• Write clean, reusable, well-tested code.
• Debug production issues and improve application performance.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to convert ideas into working products.
• Participate in code reviews and follow engineering best practices.
• Build features across user profiles, marketplace, communities, messaging, services, payments, notifications, and more.
• Contribute to improving system reliability, security, and scalability.
• Write unit and integration tests.
• Participate in the complete software development lifecycle from development to deployment.
• Take ownership of assigned features and deliver them on time.
• Continuously learn and experiment with new technologies.

What We're Looking For

• 0-2 years of software development experience, including strong internships or meaningful projects.
• Strong programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of Data Structures & Algorithms.
• Strong knowledge of at least one programming language.
• Hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React/Next.js, or equivalent technologies.
• Good understanding of REST APIs and backend development.
• Working knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with Git and modern development workflows.
• Understanding of software development principles, debugging, testing, and version control.
• Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable code.
• Strong ownership and willingness to learn.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment.
