Reddit is genuinely good at the thing we also do, and unlike most of this list its content is public. So we will not pretend the gap is discoverability. The gap is that nothing you build on Reddit belongs to you: not the name you build it under, not the community you built it in, and increasingly not the right to have it read by the tools people now ask questions with.

Everything you contribute attaches to one public identity with a CV behind it. A reader who finds your accepted answer can read your experience, your skills and your work, and then book you or message you.
Reddit deliberately separates the two. The account that knows the most about a subject is an anonymous handle, and karma does not transfer anywhere outside Reddit.

Reddit has restricted general crawling and made access a commercial arrangement. Your answer may still be read by an assistant, but on terms the platform sets and profits from.
Each community serves on its own subdomain with its own sitemap, robots.txt, llms.txt, roles, and public, ask-to-join or private modes. It reads as a site, because it is one.
A subreddit is a path on someone else's domain. Its search ranking, its branding and its continued existence are all Reddit's decision.
The asker marks one answer accepted and the thread reads as resolved. That signal is in the page, in the structured data, and on the answerer's profile.
Reddit ranks by votes. The top comment is the most popular one, which is often but not always the correct one, and nothing marks a thread as answered.
Publish priced packages, take a booking, run it to delivery, collect a review, keep the whole amount at a 0% platform fee. Or post a job and take applications with a real pipeline.
Reddit has neither. Self-promotion is restricted by design in most subreddits, so being the most helpful person in a room is hard to convert into anything.

Reddit has a community for essentially everything, and the depth of its archive is real. If you want an answer about an obscure topic tonight, it is still the first place to look.
Some questions should be asked without a name attached. Reddit is better than we are for those, and that is a deliberate design choice on both sides rather than a gap.
Volunteer moderation at that scale, with per-community rules, is genuinely hard and Reddit has been refining it for a very long time.
Stay on Reddit when you want reach and anonymity and you do not need credit for the answer.
