Discord is excellent at the live conversation, and we are not trying to replace that. The problem is what happens to the conversation afterwards. A Discord server is a closed, unindexed chat log, so every good answer inside it is written once, read by whoever is online, and then effectively deleted.

A question answered here is a permanent page with a canonical URL, structured data, tags and a byline. It is indexed and it is citable by an answer engine.
A question answered in Discord is read by whoever happened to be online. Six months later someone asks it again in the same channel, because there was no way to find the first answer.
